IPL: Most expensive uncapped players in 2022 mega auction

Young and uncapped players fetching millions of dollars is not an unusual sight in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. If anything, IPL auctions are known for their rags to riches stories. Similarly, the 2022 edition of the mega auction also witnessed several young players pocking hefty sums on the auction table. In this article, we are taking a look at five such players.

Avesh Khan

Most expensive uncapped Indian in IPL

Avesh Khan has become the most expensive uncapped Indian player in the auction. He was purchased by Lucknow Super Giants (10 crore). Avesh was released by Delhi Capitals, despite finishing the 2021 season as their leading wicket-taker. He scalped 24 wickets from 16 matches in 2021 to become the second leading wicket-taker in the tournament. Overall, he has picked 29 wickets from 25 matches.

Shahrukh

Punjab Kings signed Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh was sold to PBKS for a hefty sum of Rs. 9 crore. He is currently the best-uncapped finisher in India. Shahrukh has amassed 547 runs at 21.03 in 50 T20 games. He has a strike rate of 136.40. Shahrukh made his IPL debut last season for PBKS. He scored 153 runs in 11 matches. He had a strike rate of 134.21.

Tewatia

Gujarat Titans get Rahul Tewatia

Rahul Tewatia also fetched a huge sum during the auction after an intense bidding war. He was eventually signed by Gujarat Titans for Rs. 9 crore. Tewatia has played 48 games in IPL and amassed 521 runs at 23.68. He has struck one fifty in the tournament and has maintained a strike rate of 124.34. He has also picked 32 wickets at 31.88.

Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi sold to SRH

Rahul Tripathi also attracted the attention of several teams during the auction. In the end, the Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him for a whopping amount of Rs. 8.5 crore. He was released by KKR. Tripathi has accumulated 1,385 runs from 62 matches in IPL at 26.13. He has a strike rate of 136.32 in the tournament. He has racked up 2,215 runs in 100 T20.

Mavi

Shivam Mavi returns to Kolkata Knight Riders

Young and upcoming pacer Shivam Mavi was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 7.25 crore after being released earlier. He bagged 11 wickets in games at 21.18 in IPL 2021 while maintaining an economy rate of 7.24. Overall, Mavi has picked up 25 wickets from 26 matches at an average of 28.6. He has the best match haul of 4/21.
